When promoting your book there is a “free” service at your disposal already, and you may already be on it. Social Media. The idea is to maximize your effect while still having time in the day to actually write. That is no easy task. Here are some quick tips to handle social media promotions.

  1. Choose Wisely: Not all social media networks are created equal. Choose the websites where the people are you want to attract and engage with.
  2. Post Strategically: Go in with a battle plan. Know when you want to post, how you want to post and how you will engage with people. This will require some trial and error and some spreadsheets.
  3. Follow Up: People go onto social media to hear themselves speak sometimes, so make sure you are actually engaging with your <potential> fans. Answer questions, ask questions or even just comment on other things, not just those you post.

Social Media is time-consuming and yet it can be used successfully. The thing is to have a plan. Plans can make or break a social media campaign, so plan accordingly.
