Sell Yourself: How to Create your Brand as an Author

Develop a one minute speech about yourself and practice it until it comes out naturally. Make sure to include information about why you like to write, what you have written and most importantly what sets you apart from other authors. Whenever you are mingling at an event or meet new people you can use this speech to sell yourself as a brand.

Create Social Media Pages

Create an author page on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Google+. This page should be separate from your personal page and highlight you as an author. If you are feeling ambitious create a page for each one of your books as well. Managing all those social media sites can be a daunting task so use a tool such as Hootsuite to plan out your posts.

Start a Blog

Start a blog and talk about your writing. This blog can be made up of posts detailing your writing inspiration or you can give writing advice. Make sure there are posts about your personal life as well so your audience can relate to you.

The most important thing to do when creating your brand as an author is to just be genuine. If you show your passion for writing, people will be more inclined to like you as an author and try out your books.
